This policy explains what information SkillGato collects, why, and what choices you have. We collect as little as we need to run the courses.
Information we collect
- Account details you give us when you sign up: your name, email address, password, country and city. Passwords are stored only in an encrypted (hashed) form; we cannot read them. Country and city help us understand where our learners are, so we can plan courses and languages.
- If you sign in with Google or Facebook: the name, email address and profile picture that account shares with us. We never see your Google or Facebook password.
- Learning progress: the lessons you complete and your sample-test and module-test answers and scores, so we can show your progress and unlock modules.
- Course reviews you choose to write, which are shown on the course page.
- Language preference: whether you use the site in English, Urdu or Arabic, and your choice about news emails.
- Technical information that web servers normally record, such as the time of a request and error logs, used to keep the site working and secure.
Cookies
- site_lang — remembers your chosen language (English, Urdu or Arabic). Kept for one year.
- payload-token — keeps you signed in. Kept for up to 14 days, or until you sign out.
Both are needed for the site to work. We do not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. If that changes — for example if we show ads — we will update this policy first and, where required, ask for your consent.
Visit statistics
To know how many people visit and from which countries, we use Vercel Web Analytics, provided by our hosting company. It counts page visits without cookies and without identifying you: it records the page, the referring website, the type of device and browser, and the country (worked out from your internet address, which is not stored). We see only totals, never individual visitors.
How we use information
Only to provide the courses: to let you sign in, save your progress, grade tests, unlock modules, answer your messages and keep the service secure. We do not sell your personal information.
Emails
- Account emails are sent when they are needed to run your account: a welcome email when you sign up, a link when you ask to reset your password, a notice when your password is changed, and a congratulations email when you complete a course.
- News emails (new courses and offers) are sent only if you choose to receive them — at sign-up or in your profile. You can stop them at any time in your profile or with the link in every news email.
Sharing
We share information only with service providers that host and run the website and send our emails for us, under their confidentiality obligations, or when the law requires it.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your account and progress while your account exists. You can ask us to delete your account and all your progress at any time through the Contact page; we will do so unless the law requires us to keep something.
Security
We use encrypted passwords, protected sign-in sessions and limits on repeated wrong passwords. No online service can be completely secure, so please use a strong password that you do not use elsewhere.
Children
SkillGato is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page with a new date.
